WHAT IS EAGER GLORY?
REWORKED VINTAGE AND UPCYCLED CLOTHING INSPIRED BY QUEER PUNK AND GOTHIC FASHION CULTURE OF THE EARLY 2000s. DESIGNED, SEWN & HAND PRINTED SUSTAINABLY IN MEANJIN, BRISBANE AUSTRALIA.
Punk, Goth and Grunge are DEAD - Well, not really. BUT - it's been generalised and mass produced by slave labour companies and fast fasion labels. These subcultures were and still are dedicated to being able express yourself in whatever way you choose, and being totally anti-coporation and anti-normative about it! Persons engaged in these subcultures used to MAKE their own gear, take pride and GLORY in it, not purchase it cheaply at the expense of someone else. EagerGlory was created as a means of creating clothing that I wanted to wear personally, that I don't see being made anywhere else, and is sustainably purchased and produced by me for others to be glorious in their own way.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO FOLLOW THE LIGHT?
FOLLOWING THE LIGHT MEANS TO BE THE BEST VERSION OF YOURSELF YOU CAN BE. LET HEADS TURN AS YOU WALK BY ON THE STREET, FEEL THAT GLORY ABOUT THOSE EAGER TO BE JUST LIKE YOU.
I am inspired by gothic/emo fashion of the early 2000s, creating tops, hoodies, jeans and other accessories form re-cycled materials ethically sourced from local stores and thrift/OP Shops. I have been engaged in clothing creations for the better half of a year and a half now and wish to continue to improve my craft. I believe in combining gothic and punk styles with a more casual vibe so that the clothing I create has a valued repeatability of wear in your closet. Yes, there might be some specialty items that you might savour for a party, rave or event, but isn't it wonderful when what you wear makes heads turn as you walk down the street because of how cool you look in Eager Glory drip?
WHO IS EAGER GLORY?
MY NAME IS RAD.
EVERYTHING YOU SEE ON THIS SITE WAS DESIGNED, WASHED, SEWN, SCREENPRINTED, RIPPED UP, WEATHERED, AND SAFETY PINNED BACK TOGETHER IN MY HOME STUDIO IN AUSTRALIA.
I am a queer non-binary self taught designer, screen-printer and sew-ist currently residing on the lands of Meanjin, Brisbane, but I'm traditionally from Naarm, Melbourne. I am studying Acting at the Queensland University of Technology, and found a love for creating my own clothing during my time here. As a queer person, how I choose to present correlates heavily with how I dress this and type of creation has given me the chance to be ultra expressive about my identify. After I finish University, I hope to move back to Melbourne and set up another studio to continue my designing journey. I am further inspired by photo manipulation and employing designs I create from photos on my camera roll into creating wearable cool clothing.
